It is expected to rise further over the next 20 years. This is the Commissions eighth annual report. In the year under review, the Commission reported to the Minister on the sectors progress in 2003-2004 towards implementing the national mental health strategy and the Blueprint. Between 1993/94 and 2003/04 funding for mental health services increased from $270 million (excluding GST) to $801.7 million per annum, an increase of 141.7% after adjusting for CPI inflation. Funding increased by $63 million in 2003-2004 or 8.5%, up from 6.5% the previous year. Of this increase, $26.6 million was for service expansion toward achieving the Blueprint.
